The survey, published by Workwear Guru, rated Canada’s construction workers as the fifth best in the world based on such factors as average salaries, cost of living, and safety.

The average salary of Canadian construction workers is $55,927, which is behind only Switzerland ($79,159) and the United Kingdom ($57,957). Overtaking Canada in this ranking are the U.S., Belgium, the U.K., and Switzerland. Workwear Guru reports that the global construction industry is forecast to reach $10.5 trillion by 2023, employing over 220 million people globally, or 7% of the total global workforce.

Workwear Guru estimates that Canada’s construction sector employs over 1.4 million people and generates over $141 billion in annual revenue.
