Matthieu Nicolas Devito as a partner. His addition to the team of shareholders concretely illustrates the firm’s vision of fostering a strong next generation that contributes to the firm’s development with dynamism and passion.
Since joining MSDL Architects, Matthieu Nicolas has quickly and naturally embodied the firm’s values and played a key role in the design of major projects, including École secondaire du Bosquet in Drummondville (Award of Excellence in Architecture from the Ordre des architectes du Québec, 2025), and Ax.c, L’Hymne des Trembles, and he is currently working on the Satellite Jetty project at YUL Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. His dedication and deep conviction that quality of life is inextricably linked to quality of architecture are fully reflected in the architectural vision of MSDL Architects.

Holding a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Montreal (2014), for which he was named to the Dean’s Honour List of the Faculty of Planning, Matthieu Nicolas is an inventive and bold architect. A team player, recognized and appreciated for his attentiveness and open-mindedness, he invests himself energetically in every project, fully embracing the highly collaborative nature of the profession. He has always been passionate about architecture, with an interest in how the art shapes space to create living environments. An outdoor enthusiast and keen observer, he draws on the richness of nature and urban life to fuel a thoughtful architectural approach inspired by the spirit of the place.
Matthieu’s bachelor’s degree in environmental design, and master’s degree in architecture, with a focus on the conservation of the built environment, make him a designer particularly attuned to a project’s impact on the local area and the landscape. When developing an architectural concept—whether for an institutional, commercial, residential, hospitality, or transportation project—he pays special attention to the site context, while ensuring it meets the client’s objectives and expectations, as well as the current and future needs of users. He approaches every challenge and change of direction with confidence: he explores new avenues, refines his concepts, and sketches with meticulous care, guiding the team and the client toward the most appropriate architectural solution.
