BC:  One of your current projects involves the Trinity Hills – Block G in Calgary in collaboration with Kalamoir Construction. Could you elaborate on the approach taken while working with the Kalamoir team and highlight some of the innovative solutions being showcased?

KG:  For the Trinity Hills project in collaboration with Kalamoir, we have implemented several innovation solutions to enhance our approach. One key aspect is our scheduling portal system, which integrates seamlessly with installation, inspection, and service processes. This means that we could optimize operational efficiency.  We understand that being on time for each trade is crucial, as it can impact other parties. Therefore, we emphasize transparency and effective communication through our portal to keep all involved parties, including Kalamoir’s project team, informed about the status of each installation without interruption. This proactive approach allows us to handle tight schedules more effectively and address any issues promptly. Our commitment to continuous communication ensures that if any challenges arise, we address them swiftly and keep everyone in the loop, thereby maintaining smooth project progress and fostering a collaborative working relationship.

BC:  A sentence on your website grabbed our attention – We embraced innovation by integrating prefabricated components and automating various aspects of the finishing process. –  Tell us more about this automating wizardry you speak of?

KG:  Yes, of course. We are the first interior finishing company in Calgary to incorporate a pre-cut procedure for trims and woodwork packages.  Unlike traditional installation methods, this innovative approach streamlines the process and enhances efficiency by allowing at least 25 percent of the work to be performed in a controlled and safe environment, thus shortening on-site installation time by 30 to 50 percent.  Our automated door storage and retrieval system has also significantly improved the entire production process.  The system not only provides us effective inventory management of door counts and quicker stock turnover but also offers a safer method for handling doors that would otherwise need to be manually lifted by our warehouse team members.  Each station within our warehouse is thoughtfully laid out to ensure both efficiency and safety for all team members.

BC:  Since most homebuyers and homeowners have strong opinions about design, what are some of your most popular and sought-after products on the market today?

KG:  Since our client portfolio is very diverse, ranging from mass production master builders to ultra-custom homes clients, we are always on a lookout for the latest market trends that best fit the different customer tastes and expectations.

Custom wall panels are extremely popular in today’s interior design world; therefore, we have been introducing various types of panelling materials to our business partners.  Slat acoustic wall panels and PET MDF sheet panels will be the next must-haves in some well-designed homes showcased in the show homes.  These will gradually replace traditional feature walls with contrasting paint colors or wallpaper in the near future as they become more and more popular and cost-effective.  There are endless profile selections, some providing classic and elegance and others offering a three-dimensional look that brings both style and sophistication to any room.

Another product trend is railing construction.  Interior railing is also one of our specialties in the interiors scope or work.  We are closely monitoring our West Coast neighbours to see their progress with interior railings.  For the past 2 to 3 years, the trend has been glass with wooden posts and wall brackets, but now we are exploring metal rail components, such as cable railings, and full metal posts and handrails.  The combinations are yours to choose, and we can turn your stairs into a showcase feature of the home.
